Since making its début in 1984, the International Festival of Dance has seen companies from prestigious schools appearing on stage in the splendid setting of the G. Verdi open theatre. A traditional appointment during the Festival is the Acqui Dance Prize, which is awarded to artists who have made their mark in the field of dance. Past winners include G. Gaslini, A. Pomodoro, V. Derevianko, V. Vassiliev, I. Moiseev, N. Estrada, H. Parisi, P. Santoro, T. Brown, Roberto Bolle, Carla Fracci and - in the last edition - Alessio Carbone, Danil Simkin and Anbeta Toromani.
