What has been called “the true representation of country life” has now been held for 36 years on the second Sunday in September, during the Douja d'Or wine fair. More than 40 towns and villages in the province of Asti come together to present their special dishes accompanied by local DOC-status wines in open-air restaurants, bringing that touch of fun and joy that make the Festival of Festivals such an unforgettable day. The picturesque parade winds its way through the city streets, animated by a cast of more than three thousand in authentic period dress, with tractors and the tools of the trade representing the values and traditions of this magnificent land. An opportunity to savour the taste of the simple things of days gone by, and to celebrate the country folk who keep alive customs which are so deeply-rooted in these hills.
